Parish Nursing in the Inner City - In the words of Luvenia Lewis
A video and slideshow has been prepared about the wonderful Parish Nurse Ministry provided by our sister church, St. Paul's Community Church on Cleveland’s near west side.
Luvenia Lewis, RN, MSN, BSW has served clients at the Parish Nurse Clinic housed at St. Paul’s for the past several years and has become a trusted and vital resource providing healthcare needs, hygiene, and emotional support for the many poor and homeless living in this area. Lack of proper clothing and shelter put many at risk for serious health problems and the parish nurse is the first stop on getting their health care needs addressed.
While the program had been funded in the past through the Community West Foundation, this ended in 2010. Funding support for the Parish Nurse Clinic was initiated early in 2011 by the Federated Parish Nurse Ministry and with the generosity of many folks enough funds were raised to continue the clinic through 2011. However the need continues and grows for the services that the parish nurse provides at the clinic.
