Confirmation Class

Confirmation class is offered for ninth graders (or older students who have not yet joined the church) who would like to learn more about church membership.

Confirmation classes are taught by the Reverend Mark Simone and Bob Abley. Class participants gather in Fellowship Hall at 9:50 a.m. and walk to the Intermediate School together on the second and third Sunday mornings of the month, October through May.

Confirmation is a major step in one's own relationship with God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and the Church, universal as well as local. In many ways Confirmation is one of the foundations upon which a young person's spiritual future is built. The instructors come to the class with open minds and hearts as well as respect for the questions and views of each teenager.

The goal and purpose of Confirmation is to "confirm" in the teenager the promises made when the child was baptized. The gears are shifted and the attention moves from parental promises and consideration to making Christianity real to the kids.

No teenager will be coerced to join the church. Our hope is to answer questions, discuss issues and to provide enough background in Christianity to encourage the kids to make their own adult decisions concerning church membership.
