The Adult Nurture Board is sponsoring a special Lenten Book Study which will give members of our congregation an opportunity to join with others in reading, reflecting upon and sharing responses to ONE BOOK - The Return of the Prodigal Son by Henri Nouwen.

This book reflects upon Jesus’ story of the prodigal son weaving together the themes of compassion and grace as it draws readers into a faith journey that leads them “home.”

Rev. Nouwen, a Catholic priest, professor at Yale, Notre Dame and Harvard, author and social activist was called one of the most significant spiritual leaders of our generation. As members share in this reflective journey of faith we will find ourselves drawn closer to one another in being ONE COMMUNITY – a community of compassion and grace, ready to respond to God in celebration and service to all.

Small groups will be meeting at various times on various days of the week starting the week of February 22 and continuing for four weeks.  You may pick the time that best suits your schedule.

A DVD entitled “Journey Of The Heart: Henri Nouwen” will be shown at Mid-Hour on February 14 for those interested in learning about this humble and articulate man of faith.

A pot-luck “Sharing the Journey” meeting will be held for all participants on Wednesday March 24 as a wrap-up event for the study.

We hope you will join us in one of these ONE BOOK-ONE COMMUNITY book studies as a way to enrich and deepen your faith and to share in the experience of feeling part of God’s family.
