Welcome - Events - Centering Prayer
Centering Prayer is a method of prayer, which prepares us to receive the gift of God's presence, traditionally called contemplative prayer. It consists of responding to the Spirit of Christ by consenting to God’s presence and action within. It furthers the development of contemplative prayer by quieting our faculties to cooperate with the gift of God’s presence.
Centering Prayer facilitates the movement from more active modes of prayer — verbal, mental or affective prayer — into a receptive prayer of resting in God. It emphasizes prayer as a personal relationship with God.
This group meets weekly on Wednesday mornings for 20 minutes of silent prayer, followed by 15 minutes of “lectio divina” (prayerful reading of scripture). The group meets on the Labyrinth or in the Hearth Room at the Family Life Center. People are invited for both, but can feel free to leave after prayer and before scripture if need be.
Please feel free to come to the Centering Prayer Group, whether you have attended before or not.
Every Wednesday from 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM
Location: Family Life Center - Labyrinth or Hearth Room
