Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service
Home - Events - Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service
Join us as we live through the last week of Jesus’ life at
8:00 p.m.
Maundy Thursday, April 21
in the Sanctuary at Bell St.
Over 100 candles light the Sanctuary. A twelve foot cross stands before us.
Gradually the candles are extinguished until we sit in total darkness.
Join us for this deeply moving service.
We will pray, sing hymns, and celebrate the Last Supper.
In addition, we will hear the stories of seven items featured
prominently during that history-changing week:
palm branches, an ointment jar, 30 pieces of silver,
a bowl and towel, a cup and plate, a cross, and a linen shroud.
And, as the light fades, we will reflect on their significance.
Join us that night. It will greatly enrich your experience of
Easter the following Sunday.
Music for meditation begins 30 minutes before the service
and will include Chancel Choir, Amanda Powell, soprano, and Cecelia Orazi, cellist
